2016: A Year of Milestones

Wow, I can't tell you the number of times I've cried tears of joy this year. It has been awe-inspiring to watch our dreams of creating Porchlight Animal Sanctuary turn into reality.

On behalf of our founders and board, I want to express our deepest gratitude to you for believing in us. You are helping to create a sanctuary that will have an immeasurable impact on the lives of our future animal residents and human visitors. Thank you — we couldn't do this without you!

I'm so happy to report we are crossing off goals and achieving milestones every month. Our first ever founder's meeting was late in 2015 and by January 2016 we laid the foundation for our mission, vision, and values. In May we officially became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and by July we finalized branding development, launched our website, hopped onto social media, and started receiving our first donations. Just five months later the total contribution from our community has reached over $18,500! Now that we know how excited you all are for this sanctuary, can we ask you to help us raise $1,500 more to reach a total of $20,000As an all-volunteer organization each contribution is a direct investment into building the sanctuary and a place where animals will be able to live without fear.

As we enter into the new year our efforts will focus on finalizing our business plan. With this detailed plan, we will continue to fundraise as well as set in motion appeals for grants and a land donation. We are delighted that so many of you are eager to volunteer. While we are all awaiting the day that volunteering primarily consists of animal care, we look forward to developing programs now that will aid in raising awareness of our mission and this project.

For the animals,
Alanna W. Tomlin
President and Co-Founder

Liz Sussan, Vice President
Kat Wilson, Secretary
Cara Frye, Treasurer
David Phinney, Board Member

P.S. We'd love to hear your ideas or answer any questions you might have about Porchlight and what we are working on. Don't hesitate to contact us at info@porchlightsanctuary.org.

In one year our all-volunteer organization has:

• Created our Mission, Vision, and Values that will guide Porchlight for many years to come

• Developed our branding and launched our website

• Received grants from So Delicious and Vegan Action

• Connected with 703 Facebook followers and 318 Instagram followers

• Tabled at 4 events to spread the word about Porchlight's mission to the community
